Mastering Treasury Office Operations by Denis Nolan, Gordon Amos, June 10, 2001, Financal Times Management edition, Paperback in English.
The work carried out by treasury operations and settlements has evolved beyond almost all recognition over recent years. It has developed into a critical administrative area where the processing of all financial market and related transactions takes place. In the past, much of the knowledge and skills needed by back-office professionals could be learnt on the job. Today, the growing use of technology and new theoretical ideas have increased the need for the adoption of educational tools and techniques. Denis Nolan is an experienced market practitioner with over 35 years' experience in the global exchange, money and derivatives markets. As a chief dealer and treasurer in London, the Middle East and Japan during the 1970s and 1980s, he was among the very first treasurers of international finance institutions to embrace financial futures and derivatives as a logical extension of money and exchange dealing strategies. A founder member of LIFFE and a visiting lecturer at the City University Business School, London, he has written extensively on foreign exchange and addressed conferences and seminars on financial markets' instruments, derivatives, arbitrage, back office and Code of Conduct in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Japan.
He was commissioned by ACI to write a global 'Model Code of Conduct' for its 70 member countries, covering treasury OTC financial markets, which was published in 2000. Gordon Amos FAIBF FCIB is an international banking consultant, business adviser and lecturer with over 35 years' experience, particularly in treasury, capital markets, risk management and operations. Formerly a senior international banker, he has extensive knowledge of a wide range of banking, which he gained in the UK, Australia, Germany and India.
